How to Choose the Right Translation Format in Alberta
The receiving institution decides the format. Use regular certified translation for standard Alberta and Canadian use, ATIA-certified translation for Alberta driver's licences and for older exception cases still required by some bodies such as Service Alberta, and notarized translation only when it is explicitly requested.
Simple decision path
- IRCC or many standard Canadian uses: regular certified translation
- Alberta driver's licence or an older Service Alberta-style exception: ATIA-certified translation
- Explicit notary request: notarized translation
