Marketing Translation and Transcreation in Alberta
A brochure translated word for word reads like a brochure translated word for word. Tell us which pieces need accuracy and which need to persuade, and we price the two differently instead of pretending they are the same job.
How business work is priced
Business documents are charged by the word, not by the page, because that is what the work actually depends on. Certification is a separate service and only some documents need it.
Per-word translation
- Price depends on the language pair, volume, file format and deadline
- Exact figure quoted from your actual file before work starts
- Glossary kept and reused across your projects
- Delivered in the format you sent, layout preserved
Certified translation
- For documents submitted to authorities, courts or Alberta registries
- Signed translator declaration with a copy of the original attached
- Priced per document, not per word
- ATIA-certified available when a body asks for it
Transcription and voice
- Transcription of recordings, interviews and meetings
- Subtitles and voice-over available with the translation
- Desktop publishing when the layout has to be rebuilt
- Current rates are on the pricing page
Prices do not include 5% GST. Business enquiries go to b2b@talberta.ca; certified documents can be ordered through the order form.
What is in every project
The same working rules apply whether the job is two pages or two hundred.
- A clear split between straight translation and rewriting for effect
- Headlines and calls to action reworked to land in the target language
- Brand names, claims and legal lines left exactly as you approved them
- Layout returned ready to publish, in the file you sent
- Desktop publishing when the text no longer fits the design
- One glossary across the campaign so the message stays the same
How we work
Send the files
Email them to b2b@talberta.ca with the language pair and your deadline. Confidentiality terms are signed first if you prefer.
Get a fixed quote
We count the actual words and quote a total, not a range, together with a delivery date.
We translate and check
One glossary for the project, and a separate check of numbers, names and references.
Delivery and follow-up
Same format, layout preserved. The glossary stays with your account for later work.
Marketing documents we handle
Send the whole set at once: one quote, one glossary, consistent terminology across every file. We work with clients in Calgary, Edmonton and the rest of Alberta.

What costs time and money
Four patterns that turn a straightforward project into a slow one.
- Word-for-word headlinesA slogan that works in one language rarely survives a literal translation. Mark the lines that must persuade and we rewrite rather than translate them.
- Text that outgrows the designSome languages run 20-30% longer. Send the layout file so we can adjust, or ask for desktop publishing with the translation.
- Legal claims quietly rewordedRegulated claims and disclaimers are translated literally by design. We flag them rather than improve them.
- Copy sent page by pageSend the campaign as one set: tone and terminology stay consistent, and the whole thing is quoted once.
Questions about marketing translation
What is the difference between translation and transcreation?
Translation carries the message across accurately. Transcreation rewrites it so it persuades in the target language. Most campaigns need both, in different places.
How is it priced?
Per word, from $0.10 to $0.20 depending on language, volume, format and deadline, with a minimum of $59 per order. Rewriting work is quoted after we see the material.
Can you work in our design files?
Yes. Send the layout file and we return it ready to publish; desktop publishing is available when text length changes the design.
Do you translate websites?
Yes, page copy and interface text. Send an export or access to the content and we quote from the actual word count.
Can you subtitle a video?
Yes. We transcribe the recording first, then add subtitles or voice-over; current rates are on the pricing page.
Do marketing materials need certification?
No. Certification is for official documents submitted to authorities, and it says nothing about translation quality.
