Education Translation Services in Alberta
Schools, colleges and training providers send us two different jobs: course and communication material, priced per word, and student documents that need certification, priced per document. We quote both from the same upload.
How business work is priced
Business documents are charged by the word, not by the page, because that is what the work actually depends on. Certification is a separate service and only some documents need it.
Per-word translation
- Price depends on the language pair, volume, file format and deadline
- Exact figure quoted from your actual file before work starts
- Glossary kept and reused across your projects
- Delivered in the format you sent, layout preserved
Certified translation
- For documents submitted to authorities, courts or registries
- Signed certification statement with a copy of the original attached
- Priced per document, not per word
- Most orders in 1-2 business days
Transcription and voice
- Transcription of recordings, interviews and meetings
- Subtitles and voice-over available with the translation
- Desktop publishing when the layout has to be rebuilt
- Quoted from the recording length and language
Prices do not include GST. Business enquiries go to ab@talberta.ca; certified documents can be ordered through the order form.
What is in every project
The same working rules apply whether the job is two pages or two hundred.
- Terminology consistent across a whole course or handbook
- Register matched to the reader: student, parent or staff
- Layout preserved so handouts stay printable
- Certified translation available for transcripts and diplomas
- Confidentiality terms signed before files are shared
- One glossary reused across the year's materials
How we work
Send the files
Email them to ab@talberta.ca with the language pair and your deadline. Confidentiality terms are signed first if you prefer.
Get a fixed quote
We count the actual words and quote a total, not a range, together with a delivery date.
We translate and check
One glossary for the project, and a separate check of numbers, names and references.
Delivery and follow-up
Same format, layout preserved. The glossary stays with your account for later work.
Education documents we handle
Send the whole set at once: one quote, one glossary, consistent terminology across every file. We work with clients in Calgary, Edmonton and the rest of Alberta.

What costs time and money
Four patterns that turn a straightforward project into a slow one.
- Mixing student documents into a bulk fileTranscripts and diplomas are certified per document. Sent inside a course-material batch, they get missed. Flag them separately.
- Grades converted to the local scaleGrades and credits are transferred as issued. Evaluating them is the job of the assessing body, not the translator.
- Parent letters written at staff registerSay who the reader is. A letter home and an internal policy need different language.
- Sending PDFs of editable documentsThe original file keeps layout and tables intact. A PDF export has to be rebuilt by hand.
