Diploma and Transcript Translation in Alberta: IRCC or ATIA-Certified?

If you need to translate a diploma, transcript, or academic record, the first question is not the language pair. The first question is where you are submitting it. For IRCC, a standard certified translation is usually enough. For WES, ICAS, CES, IQAS, and many Alberta institutions, you usually need an ATIA-certified translation.

Standard Certified Translation

Typical use: IRCC, general employment, and cases where an affidavit-based certified translation is accepted.

  • From $59 + GST per page
  • Usually 1-2 business days
  • Affidavit included
  • For IRCC, the notarized true copy of the original is a separate step (see our notary page)
ATIA-Certified Translation

Typical use: WES, ICAS, CES, IQAS, Alberta professional bodies, and organizations that explicitly request an ATIA translator.

  • From $89 + GST per page
  • Usually takes longer to complete
  • Stamped and signed by an ATIA-certified translator
  • Best when the receiving institution names ATIA or certified translator requirements

How to choose the right option

Choose standard certified translation if the document is for IRCC or another recipient that accepts a regular certified translation with affidavit.

Choose ATIA-certified translation if the university, assessment service, or licensing body explicitly requests an ATIA translator or official certified translator in Alberta.

How to order

Upload the diploma, transcript, and all pages you need translated. In the order notes, tell us exactly where you will submit the translation, for example IRCC, WES, or IQAS. That is the fastest way to avoid ordering the wrong certification type.
