Some legal documents need a certified translation with an affidavit. This is the case for almost all forms and documents for immigration purposes, including birth/marriage certificates, diplomas, police certificates and passport stamps. We work with more than 50 languages.
In most cases business translations do not need to be certified. It doesn't reflect the quality of translation; rather it merely lessens the paperwork.
We charge such orders on a per word basis. The price depends on the Source/Target languages, amount of text, time frame, file format, and so forth. The average is $0.10-0.20 per word. There is a minimum of $99 per translation. We transcribe audio recordings from $1 per minute.
Regular certified translation is the everyday format in Alberta. It is used for immigration files, most provincial and federal institutions, schools and colleges, Alberta Registries requests such as a driver's licence, insurance companies and employers.
ATIA certified translation is a separate route prepared under the certification of a member of the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Alberta. It is required by courts and a few official institutions, and Alberta driver's licence orders are usually routed this way. It starts from $99 and takes 2-4 days longer to process.
Notarized translation adds a notary step and is normally named only by official institutions outside Canada, such as consulates. It also starts from $99 and takes 2-4 days longer.
